Holidays In The Past
My first post! I’ll start by stating this blog is a place to post my poetry; I am currently writing my second poetry book.
*
Holidays In The Past
*
It feels like you’re near to me,
It feels like you’re here with me,
But when I look around,
No one is there.
I’m alone, in a crowd of familiar faces.
*
When you went away,
The world turned into gray.
The summer didn’t seem as hot
And the holidays weren’t as bright.
*
When you went away,
The world went into gray.
Everything had changed
Yet everything stayed the same.
*
I didn’t realize how much you meant,
Until the day I didn’t have anymore time to spend with you.
It’s the littlest things I always miss
Like a smile, that now I’ll never see again
I should have said “I love you” more
That you were the best Grandma in the world.
Somehow, I never knew
All the things you used to do
Until you were no longer around to do them.
*
When you went away,
The world turned into gray.
The summer didn’t seem as hot
And the holidays weren’t as bright.
*
When you went away,
The world went into gray.
Everything had changed,
Yet the world stayed the same.
*
The earth kept turning,
The sun kept burning,
The stars still shined,
The moon still came out at night,
But nothing was the same,
After you went away.

Your Grandma would have loved this! A beautiful tribute.
